Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will learn to engage both in French and in English with creative objects (films, novels, autobiographies) in their interpretations and analyses (aesthetic inquiry and creative expression);
  2. Students will learn to identify and understand power structures that determine individuals in their quest for freedom and personhood relating to origins, ethnicity, gender, nationhood and sexual preferences.
  3. Students will learn to think critically about the place of the individual in society when confronted with prejudices and familial societal dysfunctions.
  4. Students will be able to move across different media and forms of representations (films, novels and graphic novels) and languages.
