MANAGEMENT, ETHICS, AND THEORY (BA5012)

This course covers theoretical and pragmatic approaches to business practices as a starting point for an on-going exploration into contemporary and critical management concepts. Students will explore the ethical issues that arise as organizations operate in a globalized and inter-connected economy. We will apply general management theory, ethical analysis, and critical approaches to a variety of case studies across different industries and global regions.

QUANTITATIVE FOUNDATION FOR MANAGEMENT (BA5015)

This course highlights the importance of statistics and software supported decision and financial analysis as a support for effective management. It introduces basic statistical methods, decision analysis techniques and basic financial statement analysis to emphasise their application in a wide range of business applications. The course content is structured to highlight the core approaches to management decision support. This course is offered for students that require core quantitative skills at the start of the MSc program. Students may test out of this course or waive the requirement with prior accounting and statistics coursework. This course may meet once a week or be offered as an intensive module.

CONSULTING METHODS (BA5019)

This course engages students with advanced themes and methods in management consultancy, both in theory and in practice. We will take a critical approach to understand how theory influences practice and how our perceptions of management consultancy evolve over time and circumstance. Students will examine management consultancy in terms of specific cultural, international and organizational elements given specific consulting frameworks.

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR (BA5021)

This course offers an in-depth overview of Organizational Behavior concepts and practices. We will cover conventional management theories and critical approaches, as well as sociological and psychological approaches. We will also explore individual, group and organizational dimensions within business and mission-driven organizations. Further, the course aims to facilitate the effective experiential learning of students through activities and problem-solving exercises based on real world examples.

ORGANIZATIONAL ANALYSIS & HUMAN RESOURCES (BA5025)

This course offers an in-depth overview of Management & Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources concepts, including conventional and critical management studies, sociological and psychological approaches. Focus on understanding of structure and work organization; the impact of technology; organizational culture; managers and decisions; power and organizational control; human resource management and the future of work.

INNOVATION MANAGEMENT (BA5031)

The aim of this course is to provide a solid grounding to students interested in managing creativity and the various aspects of the innovation process within organizations. The course is divided into two parts: the creativity process and the organizational issues involved in innovating and implementing innovations.

STARTUP BUSINESSES (BA5032)

This course introduces students to entrepreneurship and its practical implementation. The fundamentals of starting and operating a business, assessing opportunities, developing a business model (and, to a lesser extent, a business plan, with a special emphasis on NGOs) and obtaining financing will be covered. Students will also evaluate their options, including building a start up from scratch, buying an existing business, acquiring a franchise or getting involved in a family business.

INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (BA5035)

The course will focus on the international and multinational aspects of Corporate Finance decision-making in the context of global financial markets and capital formation.

MARKETING STRATEGY (BA5041)

This course examines concepts and strategies used in international marketing. Provides an overview of the current/ongoing issues and challenges facing marketers around the globe. The objective is to acquire a better understanding of the marketing challenges facing international and global firms and to analyze the tools and strategies that these companies use to mitigate these issues and challenges.

BRAND MANAGEMENT (BA5042)

This course covers how to apply the concepts of management and marketing to branding. We will examine topics and various strategies related to building, measuring, and managing a brand, with a focus on direct and indirect measures of brand equity, structures of desired brand knowledge, choice of brand elements, development of supporting marketing programs, and management of brands over time.
